What to pack for Ibiza
Ibiza packing goes wrong in a predictable way. People pack for the nights and underpack for the days, then spend the whole trip in the same two beach outfits and a pair of shoes that hurt.
The fix is to pack for the number of days, not the number of nights.
Clothing
- Swimwear, at least three sets across a week
- Cover ups that work at a beach club as well as the beach
- Two or more evening outfits, since one night always runs longer than planned
- Daytime clothes for the old town, which is hotter and steeper than it looks
- A light jacket for the north of the island and for boats after dark
Footwear
- Shoes you can genuinely stand in for hours
- Something flat for the walk home
- Sliders for the pool and the beach
This is the single most common Ibiza regret. Bring the boring comfortable pair.
Sun and toiletries
- High factor sun cream and after sun
- A hat, since shade at a beach club usually costs extra
- Rehydration sachets
- Make-up remover wipes for late nights
Essentials
- Passport, and a photo of it stored separately
- Boarding passes or booking references
- Travel insurance details
- Bank cards, plus one kept somewhere separate
- Any prescription medication in its original packaging
- Phone charger and a plug adapter if needed
- Physical ID for clubs and boat parties
Worth having
- A small crossbody bag that closes properly for nights out
- A portable battery, because getting a taxi with a dead phone is genuinely difficult
- Cash kept separately from your cards
Things specific to Ibiza
Bring physical ID
Clubs and boat operators generally want a passport or a card, not a photo on your phone. Agree as a group where everyone is keeping theirs before the first night out.
Plan the way home before you go out
Taxis are limited and hard to find late in peak season. Put the plan in the notes on the night out so nobody has to work it out at 4am.
Build in a recovery day
A week here with something booked every day is a week nobody enjoys by Thursday. An empty day on the board is a legitimate plan.
Most commonly forgotten
- Comfortable shoes
- Physical ID
- A portable battery
- Enough swimwear
- Rehydration sachets
Build your own list instead of copying this one
A generic packing list does not know what you are doing on the Tuesday. Yours does.
On Holiday Board, whatever you attach to a plan as a bring item, and whatever outfit you pick for it, turns up on your personal packing list automatically. Sunscreen wanted by three different days appears once and tells you which three. Tick it off as you pack, and what you tick is yours alone.
Questions
- What is the one thing people forget when packing for Ibiza?
- Comfortable shoes. The full list of common misses is above.
- Do I have to work from a generic list?
- No, and it is better not to. Holiday Board builds your packing list from your own plans: whatever you said to bring, plus whatever you said you are wearing, with duplicates merged into one line.
- Can everyone in the group have their own list?
- Yes. Each traveller gets their own list and their own ticks. One person packing their passport does not mark off anyone else's.
