Plan a group trip to Ibiza
Everything below is the planning detail rather than the sightseeing. Currency, climate, what to pack for it, and a day structure that works, so you can put your dates in and fill the days.
Weather and what it means for planning
Hot summers around 28 to 31°C with very little rain from June to September. Evenings stay warm enough to be outside, though the north of the island is breezier.
On your Holiday Board, each day shows a forecast once a reliable one exists, which is roughly two weeks ahead. Further out than that we show nothing rather than guessing, because a made-up forecast is worse than none when you are deciding what to pack.
What to pack for Ibiza
- Two sets of evening clothes if you are going out properly, since one night will end later than planned
- Shoes you can stand in for hours. This is the single most common regret
- Sun cream and after sun, because most days involve more sun than intended
- ID for clubs and boat parties. A card and some cash, kept separately
- A light jacket for the north of the island and for boats after dark
Add these to your plans as bring items while you are setting up the trip and they turn up on everyone’s packing list automatically, with duplicates merged.
An example Ibiza day structure
A workable shape for a 4 to 7 days trip. Copy whichever of these fit onto your own days and ignore the rest.
Day 1Arrival day
Land, settle in, somewhere easy for food. Save the big night.
Day 2Beach club day
Book a bed in advance in high season and set a leave time, since these fill early.
Day 3Recovery day
Deliberately empty. A holiday with a plan every day here is a holiday nobody enjoys by Thursday.
Day 4Boat day
Full day. Bring ID, water, sun cream and cash. Leave time is usually 45 minutes before boarding.
Day 5Big night
Set the leave time, not just the start time. Getting a group out is the hard part.
Day 6Old town and sunset
Dalt Vila in the late afternoon, then the west coast for sunset. Arrive well before the sun does.
Practical things worth knowing
- Euro. Clubs and beach clubs are expensive, so agree in advance how the group is splitting them
- Taxis are limited and hard to find late at night in peak season. Plan the way home before you go out
- Distances between the north and the south are longer than the map suggests
- Book tables and beds in advance in July and August, and put the reference in the plan notes
Getting around
Hire cars give the most freedom but parking near beaches in summer is difficult. Taxis are the norm for nights out and should be arranged ahead rather than found on the street.
This is the reason leave time exists as its own field on every plan. The start time is when the thing happens. The leave time is when you actually need to be out of the door, and in Ibiza the gap between those two is bigger than people expect.
Money on a Ibiza trip
Ibiza uses the Euro. If your group counts in pounds, set EUR as the local currency and GBP as the home currency when you create the holiday. Every expense then shows both, and the rate is saved with the expense so past spending never shifts when rates move.
At the end, the expense splitter nets everything off into the fewest possible payments.
