A group holiday planner that replaces the group chat scroll

The problem with planning a holiday in a group chat is not that people do not reply. It is that the answer to "what time is the boat" was sent eleven days ago, between a photo of a dress and an argument about the airport transfer.

Holiday Board gives the group one place where the current answer lives, and it is always the current one.

Everyone can edit, nobody has to be the secretary

Every traveller can add plans, change times, fix an address, add something to a bring list and log an expense. The person who created the trip additionally controls the dates, the guest list and whether the trip exists at all.

That split means the organiser does not become a bottleneck, and also does not wake up to find someone has deleted the holiday.

Shared plans, personal choices

Six people going to the same dinner see the same booking. What each of them is wearing is their own business, visible to the group but only editable by them. One person ticking off their packing does not tick off anyone else's.

  • Shared: the plan, its times, its leave time, its location, notes, links and the bring list
  • Personal: what you are wearing, and what you have packed

Not everyone does everything

Groups split up. Four go diving, three stay by the pool. Two book the spa while everyone else is still asleep. Most planners assume one itinerary that the whole group follows, which is why the diving trip ends up on everybody's Tuesday and the wetsuit ends up on everybody's packing list.

On any plan you can say who is actually going. It then shows as theirs on the day, and what it says to bring only reaches their packing lists. Plans are for everyone until you say otherwise, so a trip where you all stick together never has to be told anything.

Money handled without anyone chasing

Anyone can log what they paid, in whatever currency they paid it. At any point you can see who is up, who is down, and the smallest set of payments that clears the lot. Instead of four separate debts you get "Amy pays Sarah £25, Jess pays Sarah £15" and it is done.

One payment for the whole group

This is the part people usually ask about twice. The £6.99 Holiday Pass unlocks the trip, not a seat on it. Whoever organises pays once and invites as many people as they like. Nobody else is asked for anything.

Questions

How many people can join a holiday?
On the free tier, you plus one other person. Once a holiday is unlocked, as many as you like.
Do the people I invite have to pay?
No. The pass belongs to the trip. Invited travellers get the full version for free.
Can I remove someone?
The trip owner can remove any traveller. Their share of expenses already logged stays on the ledger, so the maths still balances.
Is the holiday private?
Yes. Only the people on it can see it. Private trips are never public, never shared with anyone and never indexed by search engines.
What if only some of us are doing something?
Put the people who are actually going on that plan. It shows on their day rather than everyone's, and only they get what it says to bring on their packing list. Everything else stays shared as normal.
