Plan a city break around the days you actually have
City breaks fail in a specific way: you arrive with a list of twelve things and three days, and spend the whole time slightly behind, slightly stressed, and no clearer about what today involves.
Laying it out by day makes overambition visible before you leave home.
You can see when a day is too full
Six things on a Saturday looks obviously wrong on a screen in a way it never does in a list. The day view shows everything in order with its times, so the gaps, or the lack of them, are plain.
Leave times cover the getting-there
In a city, the difference between the start time and the leave time is the metro, the walk and the queue. Holiday Board does not calculate travel time for you, but it gives leave time its own field and its own emphasis so you have to think about it.
Everything about a place in one card
- The venue name and address
- A map link that opens your phone's maps app
- Booking references and reservation names in the notes
- Links to the menu, the tickets, the opening hours
Short trips are usually free
A city break for two is inside the free tier, however much of it you plan. Plenty of them never need paying for at all.
Questions
- Does it suggest what to do in a city?
- No, deliberately. Holiday Board organises a trip you have decided on rather than trying to sell you one.
- Does it calculate travel time between stops?
- Not currently. You set the leave time yourself, which for city travel tends to be more realistic anyway.
- Can I plan a one night trip?
- Yes. Two days is a perfectly normal board.
